JSON Formatter

Pretty-print, minify and validate JSON with clear error messages.

What this JSON formatter does

This tool parses JSON and either pretty-prints it with indentation or minifies it into compact form. It is useful when you receive a webhook payload, API response, configuration blob or encoded claim and need to see its structure quickly.

Formatting, minifying and validation

Formatting makes nested objects and arrays readable. Minifying removes unnecessary whitespace for compact storage or copying. Validation happens automatically: if the input is malformed, the browser parser reports an error instead of producing output. Common problems include trailing commas, unquoted object keys, single-quoted strings and unescaped line breaks inside strings.

How to read JSON structure

Objects use braces and contain name/value pairs. Arrays use square brackets and contain ordered values. Strings must use double quotes. Numbers, booleans and null are written without quotes. Escaping matters: a literal quote inside a string must be written as \".

Privacy and security

All parsing happens locally. Still, avoid pasting production secrets, private customer data or active tokens into any browser page unless you are comfortable with that machine and extension environment. Formatting makes JSON easier to read; it does not redact sensitive fields.

Browser-only processing

JSON Formatter runs as plain JavaScript inside this page using the browser's own Web Crypto and text APIs where the tool needs randomness or hashing. There is no request to our server when you press the tool buttons, so nothing you enter leaves your device through EmailGenerator.pro.

Privacy note

No input is sent anywhere by the tool. It operates entirely in your browser tab. You can verify this by opening the browser's network inspector and running the tool: execution does not create an outbound request.

Questions

Why does valid JavaScript fail as JSON?
JSON is stricter than JavaScript object literal syntax. Keys and strings must use double quotes, and trailing commas are not allowed.
Does this upload my JSON?
No. The browser parses and formats the JSON locally.
Can it fix broken JSON automatically?
No. It shows parser errors, but it does not guess corrections because guesses can change data.
