Temporary Email for Free trials

Mixed — check the service type. Smaller tools and indie products often accept disposable addresses; major SaaS vendors actively block them.

Trying a new product without committing your real identity is a legitimate use of a temporary inbox — as long as the use is genuinely a single honest evaluation, not an attempt to loop through the same trial indefinitely.

Where it works

  • Indie SaaS tools and early-stage products — smaller services rarely maintain disposable blocklists
  • Open-source products with optional hosted plans
  • Developer tools with a free tier that does not require payment info
  • Newsletter-gated content where the "trial" is the first issue

Where it is blocked

  • Major SaaS vendors (Salesforce, HubSpot, Adobe, Atlassian) maintain aggressive disposable blocklists
  • Any trial that requires a credit card — payment processors add their own identity signals
  • Enterprise tools that route to a sales team before granting access

What the terms usually say

Most SaaS trials allow one trial per person. Using a disposable address for a second attempt after an honest first trial is a violation of most terms of service, even if it works technically. Repeated abuse also signals your device and network to fraud-detection systems regardless of which email is used.

After a successful trial

If you decide the product is worth keeping, re-register with your real address before the trial expires. Migrating data from an expired anonymous account is usually impossible.

Questions

Can I use a disposable email for a Shopify or WooCommerce free trial?
Shopify's trial does not require payment info upfront, so a disposable address may work. WooCommerce is a plugin, not a hosted service, so there is no account required. Check the specific platform's signup flow.
Will a VPN help if the domain is blocked?
No. Domain blocklists check the email domain, not your network connection. Changing your IP does not change the domain on the address.
