Gated downloads are probably the simplest case for disposable email. The exchange is clear: you provide an address, you receive a link or attachment. The temporary inbox completes that exchange without creating a long-term marketing relationship.
What counts as a gated download
- PDF whitepapers, e-books, and research reports
- Templates (spreadsheets, slide decks, Notion pages)
- Free software trials sent by download link
- Coupon and discount codes
- Webinar recordings and course previews
- Industry reports and data sets
The flow
- Open the generator and copy the address.
- Paste it into the download gate form and submit.
- Return to the inbox tab. The delivery email arrives automatically.
- Open the message, follow the download link or save the attachment.
- The inbox expires on its own — nothing else needed.
About attachments
Attachments delivered to a temporary inbox are stored separately and served with strict content-type headers so they cannot execute in the browser. Maximum attachment size is = (int) (config('MAX_ATTACHMENT_SIZE') / (1024 * 1024)) ?>MB per file. Very large files are sometimes hosted externally and linked rather than attached — follow the download link in the message body in that case.
When this may not work
- Platforms that use a dedicated delivery service which maintains domain blocklists
- Downloads tied to a software licence key that must be re-issued to a verified account
- Files delivered only after a phone verification step
